White bread croutons soaked in a mixture of milk and beaten egg, fried in a frying pan. A quick and simple dish.
How to cook Fried sweet croutons
— Croutons can be served with honey, caramel sauce or with butter and maple syrup. Fresh berries and fruits are also suitable.
* Add sugar to the mixture if you are going to serve simple croutons without any sauce.
— I’m taking toast bread. If you will use a loaf, then cut it into thick slices ~ 1.5 — 2 cm. Too thin slices turn out to be very soft and falling apart.
Yesterday’s/two-day, slightly baked bread is best.
In a container, mix the egg and milk. If desired, add cinnamon. Whisk lightly.
Usually I pour the mixture into a wide shallow container, which will fit a bread slice. If you whisk in a deep bowl, pour the mass into a flatter plate.
Melt a piece of plums over medium heat. oil, or add vegetable oil.
Dip the slice into the mixture. Let the bread soak a little with it, but do not soften it.
Remove the excess mixture from the bread and immediately transfer to the pan. Cook several pieces at once at a time, as many as will fit in a frying pan.
Fry the croutons until they are browned on one side, then flip and brown on the other side.
