How to cook Juicy cabbage rolls with rice and meat
Cabbage rolls are prepared in many countries of the world, and they are also called differently. They are prepared from different cereals, vegetables or chopped meat. And why are cabbage rolls so called? There are many versions, but it seems to me that the name still came from the German kohlblatt, which means «cabbage leaf», does it seem true? This is a well-balanced dish, as it includes meat, which means protein, and vegetables, which means fiber, and cereals-that is, complex carbohydrates. An ideal dish, if you do not take fatty meat and cook without sauce. We choose a large head of cabbage, so that the stuffing can be wrapped in its leaves.
Peel the onions and carrots. Cut the onion into cubes, grate one carrot, cut the other into circles (the one on the grater will go into minced meat). Cut the tomatoes at the top with a cross and put them in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Remove the skin. Cut into small cubes.
Rinse the rice, pour cold water and put it to cook. After boiling, reduce the heat, boil for another five minutes, drain and rinse with cold water.
Fry the onion in a preheated frying pan with vegetable oil. Add the chopped carrots to the pan and fry for another three to five minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes and simmer for another five minutes. Add tomato paste and soy sauce. Stir and remove from the stove after five minutes.
Rinse the cabbage, cut out the stalk, and put it in the microwave for five minutes. If the leaves do not become soft after five minutes, then hold it for another. Mix rice, minced meat and grated carrots. Add a little salt and black pepper. Mix well.
Now we «strip» the cabbage. Carefully remove a leaf from the cabbage. In each leaf we wrap the minced meat prepared earlier. Stuffed cabbage rolls are placed in a saucepan. Pour a little warm water and put the vegetable dressing in the same place. We put it to stew on medium heat for 30-40 minutes or until the cabbage rolls are ready.
