How to cook Potato puff salad with herring
The salad is simple and delicious. To make the salad portions look nice on the table, it is better to lay out the salad with the help of molds, for example hearts. The taste of the finished dish largely depends on the ingredients that you take to prepare the salad. I prefer to take whole herring, it tastes better, the fillet is denser and there are fewer different additives when compared with preserves. But, of course, the preparation of herring will take longer.
Rinse the potatoes with cool water, put them in a saucepan, pour water over them and put them to cook. As soon as the water boils, turn it down and cook over low heat until tender. Then drain the water, cool the potatoes. Hard-boiled eggs, pour cold water.
We turn to the herring. Thoroughly clean the insides, remove the skin and remove all the bones. If you have already chosen a cleaned herring in oil, then we take out the pieces, remove excess oil, small bones, if there are any.
Peel the potatoes from the «uniform», as well as peel the eggs and onions. It is advisable to use red onions, they should be juicy and sweet. If you take an ordinary onion, and it also gets hard and bitter, then you can ruin the whole salad.
Now we prepare the layers. We cut the herring into small pieces and leave it in a separate bowl. Cut the potatoes into small cubes and also put them in a separate bowl. Three eggs on a coarse grater. Cut the onion into small cubes. We prepare the ingredients for decoration at once. Finely chop the dill. Berries are washed and dried.
We begin to collect our salad. The salad will look very nice if it is collected using a mold. You can take a heart shape, or just a round one, one large or several small ones.
Put the potatoes in the first layer, and lubricate with mayonnaise. The amount of mayonnaise depends on several parameters. Firstly, what kind of mayonnaise do you have, and secondly, how do you feel about this sauce. The salad will be juicy due to onions and herring, so I do not advise you to get carried away with mayonnaise. Then onion, herring, egg, and again you can put a little potato. Lubricate with mayonnaise and sprinkle with herbs.
