How to make a snack salad with herring and apple
A wonderful snack salad, with a dressing of yogurt and sour cream. A slightly unusual combination of herring, green apple and onion. Leek adds spicy notes of wild cherry to the salad. We are used to filling everything with mayonnaise, but I advise you to try this, no less delicious dressing, and besides, yogurt is much healthier than mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is a universal sauce for dressing salads and everything else. But the caloric content is off the scale! It’s time to switch to more useful refueling, although perhaps someone will find the taste unusual. Choose yogurt that is not sweet, and if possible natural. Carefully read the packaging, there should be no sugar and sweeteners in the composition.
Prepare all the ingredients. You can take a whole herring, then you need to clean it and remove the bones. If you have a herring fillet, you still need to check for the presence of small bones and remove them. Wash the apple, greens and onions with cool water and dry them.
We’ll prepare the dressing. Mix yogurt and sour cream in a separate bowl. You can add salt, but just a little, do not forget, the herring will add salt to the salad. Pepper and mix. Cut the herring fillet into cubes, not very small. Add a few spoonfuls of dressing to the herring and mix.
Peel the green apple from the skin and insides. Cut into cubes, the same as sliced herring. Add to the herring and move. The apple should not change color, oxidize.
Now cut the leek into thin slices. You can chop some greens to add to the salad. Leave the rest for decoration.
Add the greens and leeks to the salad. We put the remains of the refueling there as well. Mix everything, put it in a salad bowl and decorate with herbs. Bon Appetit!
